The Boston Athletic Association (BAA) announced the cutoff date on September 28th, setting the standard for this year's qualifiers. As the deadline approaches, the cutoff times tend to get tougher. To stay ahead of the competition, runners are advised to aim for a time that surpasses the previous year's cutoff, which was 5 minutes 29 seconds or faster.
Based on historical data, it is estimated that approximately 30% of applicants will be turned down due to the rigorous cutoff times. If a runner misses the cutoff, they may still register for the marathon through a charity program or as an international entrant.
