Astros’ Yordan Álvarez Homers, Extends Lead
Houston Keeps Rolling with Sixth Straight Win
Álvarez’s Blast Helps Astros Cruise to Victory
The Houston Astros continued their hot streak on Wednesday night, earning their sixth straight win with a 6-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Yordan Álvarez was the offensive star of the game, launching a three-run home run in the sixth inning to extend the Astros' lead and help secure the win.
Prior to Álvarez’s homerun, the Astros had taken an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Jose Abreu and an RBI single by Chas McCormick. However, the Diamondbacks battled back to tie the game in the fourth inning on a two-run homerun by Ketel Marte.
The Astros regained the lead in the fifth inning when Abreu singled in another run, making it 3-2. Álvarez then broke the game open in the sixth with his three-run homerun, giving the Astros a 6-2 lead. The Diamondbacks added one more run in the seventh inning on an RBI double by Sergio Alcántara, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Astros' lead.
Astros’ starter Luis Garcia earned the win, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing just two runs on five hits. He struck out six batters and walked two. The Astros' bullpen then combined to allow just one run over the final 3.2 innings, with Rafael Montero picking up the save.
With the win, the Astros improve to 13-6 on the season, maintaining their lead in the AL West. The Diamondbacks, on the other hand, fall to 7-12 and remain in last place in the NL West.
