Broncos Depth Chart 2024: What We Know So Far
A Look at Denver's Roster After a Busy Offseason
Quarterback
After a disappointing 2023 season that saw the Broncos finish with a 5-12 record, the team made a number of changes to their roster, including at the quarterback position. Russell Wilson, who was acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Seattle Seahawks last year, struggled mightily in his first season in Denver. The Broncos are now expected to move on from Wilson and start over at quarterback in 2024.
The Broncos have a number of options at quarterback, including Drew Lock, who started 13 games for the team in 2020. Lock showed some promise in those starts, but he also struggled with consistency. The Broncos could also look to add a veteran quarterback via free agency or trade. Some potential targets include Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Baker Mayfield.
Other Positions
The Broncos also made a number of other changes to their roster this offseason, including adding several new starters on defense. The team signed cornerback Pat Surtain II to a long-term extension and also added safety Justin Simmons and linebacker Randy Gregory. These additions should help improve a Broncos defense that struggled mightily in 2023.
The Broncos also have a number of promising young players on their roster, including wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and running back Javonte Williams. These players will be expected to take on bigger roles in 2024 and help the Broncos return to contention.
Outlook
The Broncos have a lot of work to do to improve their roster, but they have a number of talented players and a solid foundation to build on. With a new quarterback and a number of other key additions, the Broncos should be in a better position to compete in 2024.
