2024 presidential election

Key dates and information

The 2024 United States presidential election will be the 60th quadrennial presidential election, scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2024. It will be the first presidential election since 1996 not to feature a sitting president or vice president as a major party nominee.

The Democratic National Convention will take place in Chicago, Illinois, from July 15 to 18, 2024. The Republican National Convention will take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from July 22 to 25, 2024.

Primaries and caucuses

The primary elections and caucuses will be held from February to June 2024. The first primary will be held in Iowa on February 3, 2024. The last primary will be held in the District of Columbia on June 11, 2024.

General election

The general election will be held on November 5, 2024. The candidates who receive the most electoral votes will be elected president and vice president.
