Argentina and Morocco Play to Thrilling Draw in Paris Olympics Opener

Early Goal Deficit Overcome by Argentinian Comeback

By James Benge

In a thrilling Group B opener at the Paris Olympics, Argentina battled back from an early two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw with Morocco.

Morocco struck first in the 10th minute through a stunning free kick from Achraf Hakimi. They doubled their lead just 12 minutes later when Youssef En-Nesyri headed home a cross from Sofyan Amrabat.

However, Argentina refused to give up, and they pulled one goal back in the 35th minute through a penalty converted by Lionel Messi. Lautaro Martinez equalized for Argentina in the 60th minute, tapping home a cross from Angel Di Maria.

Both teams had chances to win the game in the closing stages, but neither could find a decisive goal.

The draw leaves Argentina and Morocco level on points at the top of Group B, with their next match scheduled for July 28th.
