US Stock Market Rises on Strong Earnings
Dow Jones Industrial Average Hits Record High
S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite Also Gain Ground
The US stock market rose on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average hitting a record high, as strong corporate earnings boosted investor sentiment.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 330 points, or 0.9%, at 36,799.65. The S&P 500 gained 1.5% to 4,793.06, and the Nasdaq Composite rose 2.2% to 15,644.97.
The gains were led by technology stocks, with Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon all rising more than 2%. Energy stocks also performed well, with Exxon Mobil and Chevron both gaining more than 1%.
The strong earnings reports from several major companies helped to boost investor confidence. JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, and Goldman Sachs all reported better-than-expected earnings, and they all raised their forecasts for the rest of the year.
The positive earnings reports and the strong economic data released recently suggest that the US economy is continuing to recover from the pandemic. This has helped to boost investor confidence and led to a rally in the stock market.
